Necromancer s Moon is a quest in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion The Hero must travel to Dark Fissure to find out more about black soul gems as part of the ongoing investigation of the necromancers As part of the further investigation of the necromancers and the deaths of two of their mages Raminus Polus asks that the Hero head to Dark Fissure cave to find out more about the black soul gems The quest Necromancer s Moon for the Mages Guild questline
Apparently the name describes a cave in the mountains south of Cheydinhal and if there is an altar there as the note suggests Raminus wants you to investigate it He doesn t let you leave without a warning though stating that we are dealing with powerful forces here Fast travel to the Vahtacen ruin you visited in the previous quest then Go to Dark Fissure and either learn of the light by watching the ritual thing performed by the Necromancers or find out some other way But anyhow if you wish to create Black Soul Gems you will need Grand Soul Gems put them in the Altar and wait till midnight and as soon as you see the light on the altar cast soultrap it will only work if you have a normal soul gem in there though
