I fixed it What I did was Download the CoF fix for 64 bit users and install it just replace the cof exe in the game files link for the fix here https www moddb games cry of fear downloads cry of fear the game stops responding after the cry of fear picture appears after the half life production logo and then i get a small pitch black window i waited an hour and when i clicked it this small window became white and a message pops out telling me that the game isn t responding
Game crashing shortly after launch After the logos the game cuts to a black screen and starts loading infinitely My laptop absolutely should be able to play this but I imagine it s some kind of resolution or graphical issue since the game is older and Windows 11 loves making it impossible to play old games The game does not adjust to the dekstop s high resolution scaling When playing at 1920x1080 or higher the game may become zoomed in Right click on cof exe or CoFLaunchApp exe the fix works on both exes and choose Properties Go to the compatibility tab and click on Change high DPI settings
